Online training course on women's leadership empowerment in cooperatives

In the past, when it comes to leadership, people will often assume that person is male because they think that only men have the ability and requirements to succeed in leadership. However, recently, more and more women are participating in operation and business processes as well as key leadership positions. The contribution of female leaders to socio-economic development is undeniable, and since then, people's perception of female leadership has changed.

However, recently, more and more women are participating in operation and business processes as well as key leadership positions. The contribution of female leaders to socio-economic development is undeniable, and since then, people's perception of female leadership has changed.
With the aim of encouraging and promoting the development of female leaders in cooperatives, on September 23-24 and 27-28, 2021, Agriterra organized an online training course with 4 cooperatives, including Tan Huong Cooperatives, Nam Cuong Cooperative, Ai Nghia Cooperative, and Nghia Binh Cooperative.

Participating in the training session, in addition to Agriterra's business advisors, there was also the presence of a Dutch expert, Mrs. Helma Vermua, a member of the Board of Directors of the Dutch Farmers Association LTO North, who came to share her experiences and valuable lessons on how to encourage women to participate in leadership. Through the training sessions, the cooperatives learned more knowledge related to gender - gender equality, and the qualities/roles of female leaders, as well as had the opportunity to exchange experiences among the cooperatives.

“After hearing from experts, we have learned many things and will strive to develop female leaders in the board of directors to help the cooperative develop sustainably.” – Mr. Pham Van Chien, Chairman and Director of Nghia Binh Cooperative, Nam Dinh. In addition, attending the training session also had the participation of teachers and lecturers from the Academy of Agriculture who came to exchange and share experiences with cooperatives so that they could develop and improve their new subjects about agricultural cooperatives at the Academy. From there, they can encourage and increase number of young
members working in cooperatives in the future.
