In the past, when it comes to leadership, people will often assume that person is male because they think that only men have the ability and requirements to succeed in leadership. However, recently, more and more women are participating in operation and business processes as well as key leadership positions. The contribution of female leaders to socio-economic development is undeniable, and since then, people's perception of female leadership has changed.
In the framework of the project “Enhancing performance of the horticultural sector in North and Central Vietnam” sponsored by the Dutch government from 2019-2021, on December 17th 2020, at the Conference Room of the Faculty of Accounting and Business Management, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), representatives of the Netherlands Cooperative Development (Agriterra) had a meeting with the 63th batch of Agricultural Business Administration and Advanced Crops Science courses before the students start their internship program in cooperatives.
Survival challenges faced by small-scale cooperatives -A CASE STUDY OF LIEM ANH HI-TECH COOPERATIVEand TAM BINH MUSHROOM AND FRESH VEGETABLE COOPERATIVE in Bac Ninh, Vietnam
The most interesting question of participants who are working in cooperative sector in Vietnam is: why countries with big and advanced cooperatives do not have cooperative laws and cooperative departments, whereas in countries where cooperative laws and cooperative departments are in place, the cooperatives are small? A three day- training workshop from 26 to 28 November 2019 organized by Agriterra in collaboration with Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), Vietnam Cooperative Alliance (VCA) attempted to answer the above question and has stressed the importance of transforming cooperative as model of enterprises/companies under the contemporary business context rather than a cooperative as a single legal entity for charity program. The workshop was facilitated by Tjandra Irawan, Business Advisor of Indonesia, and assisted by staff of Agriterra Vietnam.
On December 8-11, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, VNUA President and Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Viet Long, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office, joined MARD’s mission led by Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong to visit and work in the Netherlands. In the framework of the working visit to Vietnam of Mr. Mark Rutte - Dutch Prime Minister and Ms. Sonnema - Vice Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the Embassy of the Netherlands collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) to organize the seminar "An Impulse to Innovative Agro Business – Let’s Work Together" on April 9th, 2019 at Melia Hotel, Hanoi.
